ANWAR BIN IBRAHIM : MALAYSIA'S PRIME MINISTER IN WAITING
Mr. Anwar Bin Ibrahim was elected back to Parliament 20 years after being imprisoned on charges of homosexuality and sodomy by Mahathir Mohammed in 1998.
Mr. Ibrahim, who was acquitted in the case and later received full royal pardon, partnered with Mr. Mohathir Mohammed in elections and came to power in May 2018. He has been named as the successor to Mr.Mohathir Mohammed , who will step down before May 2020.
Mr.Ibrahim says that the ties with India is well below potential and should be strengthened.
Anwar Bin Ibrahim has visited China and reiterated the relations with China and favoured investments also. But the Chinese Infrastructure Projects under BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVES
(BRI) was cancelled as it was not viable for Malaysia. He was in New Delhi on a friendly visit recently.
